Thursday morning I gave her Tylenol to reduce her fever it was reaching 103.I took her to the lab to get blood taken. It was an awful experience. 2 hours later she was burning up and wouldn't eat. They were trying to get urine, but she was not going so I decided to take her to the Emergency Room.
She was at 102.8 F when we got into the ER. I was seen right away. I had 7 different nurses or techs waiting on us. She was not happy. They seemed to be very concerned and thorough.
I lost my phone (it got stolen!) and I couldn't call anyone. The phone I am using doesn't work. I was so upset. My best friend called and he asked if I had called her dad. Since I lost my phone I didn't have his new number. Not like I have it memorized considering he changes it weekly. He called his parents house. He called to see how we are doing. How do you think we are doing, we are sitting in the EMERGENCY ROOM. He said he couldn't make it up to see us but would call us in an hour. I was all by myself in the hospital not sure what to do. I was sitting in the room with Madison when his mother showed up. I was so glad to see her. I may be extremely disappointed in him and not even know who he is anymore, but seeing her is like a huge relief. I have known her most of my life so she is a huge comfort. She stayed with us until they got Madison's fever down.
The doctor came in and said that they ordered an ambulance to send us to the Summerlin Pediatrics Ward because they cannot admit babies at their hospital and she needed to be monitored. We were then transported to another hospital via ambulance. (I am nervous that is going to cost an arm and a leg). I like Centennial Hospital MUCH BETTER! This hospital seemed dirty and weird. Of course people are nice especially when you have a sick baby; yet they seemed more genuine at the other hospital.
We were there for hours when finally the doctor came in and said that we can stay to be monitored or we can leave it is up to me. WHAT? I was like I don't know you are the doctor, yet he gave me the option. I was angry no one was telling me what was wrong with her or what to do. We left. I figured if there was a problem in the middle of the night, since I live right by Centennial hospital I could go there if needed. She has a fever of 100 as of today, but at least she is eating. She wasn't eating and I was fearful of dehydration so I took her in. It was unbelievable the difference of her complexion when we left she looked like a completely different baby.
We were leaving and my parents came to pick me up. I was waiting inside until they pulled the car up. I walked out and the Valet guy came over and opened the car door to help me put her in, then as he opened my car door he said, "CONGRATS ON THE NEW BABY!" - New baby?
I do not know what is worse that Madison looks so small at 8 months old that she could easily be mistaken for a newborn baby, OR that I must have looked SO BAD that I looked like I had just had a baby! Perhaps it was because I hadn't showered in 3 days or more like because we were touring Emergency Rooms at the different hospitals in the valley.
So the outcome, according to one doctor he didn't know so he sent us to the pediatrics ward at a different hospital. The other doctor said it is the Swine Flu even though the tests were negative. Not sure what to think. As of today her fever was 100F and she is just sleeping, at least she is eating though.
