AN EARLY MORNING
They say that when Babies first begin to eat, they will sleep more through the night. Oh no, not my daughter, she takes after me. This morning Madison decided she wasn't tired anymore and at 2am she decides she wants to sing, practicing all her new sounds. Hence I am tired for I have been up since 2am. I tired to shut of the lights and let her fall back asleep. Oh no the darker it was the louder she babbled. She dislikes sleep as I did. LOVELY!
MADISON AND BABYFOOD
Madison had food for the first time this weekend. We didn't do the typical rice cereal in a bottle or whatever grain they have out there. I am too paranoid with the 'recalls' on baby formula to trust anything of that nature. Plus all my reading has indicated it really isn't that great. The idea is to get the baby into the actual act of eating not as much so as it's vitally important.
I read that avocados are good to start with because they have the fatty acids babies need for brain function and development so that is where we started. I thinned it with carrot juice. (because I ate carrot avocado soup and know it tastes pretty good)
It was so funny. We watched her try to understand what we were doing. She mostly wanted to touch it with her hands. She didn't understand once she got it in her mouth that she was suppose to swallow it. She will smile and laugh and out it would come. The second time feeding her she learned the generally idea of the smacking sensation but mostly just stuck out her tongue and food came out.
I bought the BABYCOOK machine from William and Sonoma. BEST idea ever! It is a baby food cooker. It is awesome! I love it! I had fun playing with it. This way I do not have to make large batches of baby food and freeze it and worry that all the nutrients will be lost in the freezer. Nope I just make enough as needed and it's fresh. Plus it's so easy to clean. It was expensive ($150.00) especially for the tiny little processor but WORTH it to me at least!
I didn't realize that there are so many rules when it comes to freezing food. Proper jars, proper items, proper thawing rules, never re-freezing foods, freezing mixed with plastics. So I bought the glass freezer safe preserve jars. I am curious how that works. I have directions, but yet to try it out. I think one step at a time. I found that being organic is EXPENSIVE! Going GREEN is even more EXPENSIVE, and being RAW oh just forget it. It is worth it though!

ARRIVING HOME
We made it home! It was so nice to see slot machines and be back in the dry air. It was so nice seeing my sister and her friends! They are awesome, and they LOVED baby. Britany made her the cutest tutu for our photos. It is adorable, and PURPLE. I love it!
The plane ride back was not as nice as on the way there. Why when you get to the airport early it takes but minutes to get through security. There was no wait in the airport, my plane was empty, and I didn't bring anything entertaining. What bothered me is on the way there leaving the airport here they said nothing about my 3 bottles of breast milk. On the way back they took the 1 bottle of breast milk and tested it in some "laser" machine. I decided we will not be drinking that batch.
The plane ride was rather bumpy due to the wind. Madison was tired and having a hard time falling asleep once we settled on the plane. I think her lack of sleep was bothering her more than her ears.
I am not one of those parents that rock the baby to sleep. If needed I would do so, but I would rather not develop bad habits. I place her in her bed and let her fall asleep on her own, which seems to work great for us. I am not trying to develop bad habits that I will have to deal with in the future. I do not sleep with her in my bed, besides I do not want to break a 9 year old of the habit, I am mostly afraid I would squish her. So on our trip home she fell asleep when she was in the baby carrier, but when I was holding her on the plane she wanted to be put down to go to sleep. I just didn't have anywhere to put her. Even though we had our own row, (I am an excellent row hoarder on flight) she would not have stayed put.
We had to leave the tutu behind. :o( I didn't want to get it smashed in the luggage. We also left a "beautiful garden" bouncer. It is a pink and brown bouncer chair. She liked it a lot. We cannot wait to see Auntie JuJu and her friends again in 3 weeks! Especially because I MISS MY SISTER!

1ST PLANE RIDE
The airport was not as scary as I had envisioned it to be. Although I will say I need a sign that says "Please do not touch the baby". Adults migrate towards her with their half twisted faces.
Our flight was not full so I got a whole row to myself. Unfortunately we sat across from the drunks on the plane. They were yelling while they drank their beers and wine talking about their 'one night stand' experiences. Very inappropriate conversation for strangers, but perhaps that is what crazy drunks talk about.
Madison is amazing! She didn't cry fuss or complain while on the plane. I thought take off was going to be difficult and she content in my arms. At one point in the flight my ears hurt and she seemed great. We fell asleep for most of the flight and then when we landed the drunks approached us to say their are sorry for being so loud they didn't even realize there was a baby by them. They said "She is the most well-behaved baby we have ever encountered" Yeah, that would be Madison! I just hope that the flight home is as peaceful.

CAR ACCIDENT
Any car accident requires a new car seat. The state destroys them regardless of how major or minor the incident. Of course I bought the top of the line car seat and $200.00 later the same car seat is once again mine.
